The Versatile Blogger Award

Let me begin by saying that I write Babe Daily for myself. It may sound selfish, but this blog is my creative outlet to write about my interests. It serves as a place for exploration into finding my voice in a world full of very loud individuals. I’ve never felt the need for external validation to feel that Babe Daily is a success. All I’ve wanted for this project is for at least one person out there to enjoy reading Babe Daily.

That being said, I’m proud to announce that I’ve been nominated by babes Meggie & Sheena over at Glittery·moss for the Versatile Blogger Award! Not only one, but two whole humans out there enjoy what I have to say. It warms my heart and I am grateful.

This award comes with string attached. Here are those strings:

  • Show off the award on your blog
  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Tell the world 7 facts about yourself
  • Nominate 15 blogs
  • Link to the blogs and let them know you shared the love

So here we go.

Here are 7 facts about me:

  1. My best friend is a chubby black cat named Knuckles.
  2. My human best friends and I have been BFFs since we were in kindergarten. Ashley & Winter, if you’re reading this (and even if you aren’t) I love you Salsas!
  3. The main reason I get out of bed in the mornings is to eat breakfast. Breakfast foods are the bestest foods.
  4. My wonderful Mom & Dad birthed 5 insane beautiful children of which I am the eldest. All our names begin with the letter ‘A’ except for the youngest, Emma. The difference in her name is appropriate because she is certainly the most “different” of the gang.
  5. My obsession with sweaters is getting out of hand. The current tally is 54.
  6. In high school, I asked a very cute boy to prom. He said yes. That night we kissed & it was magical. This very cute boy is now my boyfriend of 6 years. Lesson: break convention & go after what you want!
  7. My darling friend Shelby & I began reading the most famous book set in every state in January 2014. I’m currently finishing up Illinois’ book The Jungle by Upton Sinclair.

I’m going to break convention again & only nominate 7 blogs as I honestly don’t keep up with many blogs.

Here are my 7 nominations:

  1. Bizi’s Pieces
  2. Manda Writes Things
  3. Miss Winnie
  4. My journey to qualify for the Boston Marathon…and everything in between…
  5. The Car Lot (Love you Austin!)
  6. The Luxe Look

To the nominees, please do not feel pressured to accept this award. This kind of thing is not for everyone, and you should not feel as though you have to participate in this chain of nominations. If you do read & enjoy the creative work of a fellow blogger, please spread the love.

Thanks again to Meggie & Sheena. Your blog is blossoming, and I’m glad you babes are keeping on it!

2015: Reflections, Resolutions, & Goals | Printable

The start of a new year brings contemplation, hope, and ultimately action. We reflect on the past year and look forward to the chance for a new beginning.

I’m very much into making new year’s resolutions, so each year I design a little resolutions manifesto. For this year’s, I thought I’d make it a little more broad and interactive so I could share it with you babes.

I give you 2015: Reflections, Resolutions, & Goals Printable

We begin with a reflection on 2014, then move to our resolutions for 2015, and end with listing our new goals.

So print the PDF onto your paper of choice, grab your favorite writing utensil, and get to filling out your 2015 reflections, resolutions, and goals. When you’ve finished, display your page (you could even frame it) for an everyday reminder of how you’re going to make 2015 the best year it can be!

Happy Tuesday Babes! I hope you enjoyed the long weekend.

I’ve spent the morning cleaning my apartment, and I now feel so energized. It’s funny how the physical clutter and grim can translate to mental mess. A tidy home means a tidy brain!

I think I’ll reward my cleaning self with a smoothie. This Banana Cream Pie one looks fab!

Here’s what else is cookin’.

  1. The Easiest 3-Ingredient Fudge Bites from Veggie and the Beast
  2. Chili with Ranch Sour Cream from Food Network Magazine
  3. Corn Chowder from Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution
  4. Zucchini and Ricotta Fritters from Pink Parsley

Quick & Easy Breakfast

In an attempt to eat more fruit, I’ve started having yogurt for breakfast. I haven’t been a big fan of yogurt since I was a babe, and as you may know, I hadn’t been a big fan of blueberries either, but lately I’ve gotten really into this fresh combo.

Here’s how I enjoy this quick, easy, & healthy breakfast.

I add a few scoops of non fat plain greek yogurt to a bowl. Then I top the yogurt with fresh blueberries, sliced almonds, and honey. Sometimes I add other fruit and/or granola; here’s a good granola recipe if you’d like to DIY.

What’s so great about this “recipe” is that it’s totally customizable. Do you prefer vanilla yogurt? Use vanilla yogurt! Do the blackberries at the grocery store look super? Add blackberries! Are you crazy for macadamia nuts? Add the macadamias! It’s all up to you. Use what you have and what you like.

How do you serve up your yogurt?

Happy Sunday Babes! I hope you’re having a restful weekend.

My boo & I have been sick all week, (I’m just starting to feel nearly 100% again), so I’m looking forward to this new week without a mountain of tissues and whining (on my part; I’m a total baby when ill).

In less sicko news, this is my 100th post on Babe Daily!! Let’s celebrate with food, shall we?!

Here’s what’s cookin’.

  1. Gluten Free Instant Noodle Cups from Gluten Free On A Shoestring

December Favorites

December was a month of seasonal goodies. Here’s a look at my favorites!

Beauty Faves

So White Shower Gel from LUSH

Shocking news: another LUSH product is a favorite! So White is a seasonal scent that smells of crisp apple and instantly perks up any gloomy winter shower. It leaves your skin soft & fragrant all day long.

Design Faves

Pink Floral Weekly Desk Pad from Rifle Paper Co.

Rifle Paper Co. is my new favorite. I’m in love with all their paper goods, but this desktop pad is my absolute fave! It’s perfect for keeping track of my weekly to-dos and looks great doing it! I also purchased the 2015 Appointment Calendar to note each months events. It’s equally as beautiful and well made in the US.

Fashion Faves

Hanukkah Sweater from Ragstock

During my trip to Minneapolis in November, I purchased this sweater while shopping at the Mall of America. I had been in the market for a Hanukkah sweater, so I was very pleased to find a sweater, in stores, that was the style I was looking  for. Comfy and well-loved, this sweater was an easy & festive go-to for cold mornings. Here’s a similar sweater from Wet House on Etsy.

Home Faves

Vintage Spruce Scented Soy Candle from Target

I bought this candle in November and instantly loved the warm, natural scent. During my next Target shopping trip, I put another Vintage Spruce candle in my basket, but ended up not buying it. Instant regret! The next time I was at Target, I didn’t hesitate. I picked up one of the last Vintage Spruce candles they had in stock, and my heart cried a little. Unfortunately, this baby is seasonal but here are two (one & two) other candles with a spruce scent that may fill your Vintage Spruce void.

Personal Faves

House of Cards on Netflix

My boo has a back for knowing a good series when he sees one. I do not. He had been wanted to start House of Cards and I kept refusing for longer than I’d like to admit. One night he pressed play, I gave in, and thank goodness he did because OMG babes, it is phenomenal! There’s ruthless politicians, greed, and corruption. So dramatic and scandalous I cannot wait for the next season to go up in February.
