I’ve got to be honest here, babes. I don’t have many favorites for November. I didn’t try many new products, and the few I did, did not blow me away.
No matter. Here are the golden few that made the list:
O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara from Marc Jacobs Beauty
While purchasing a refill of an old favorite foundation at Sephora, I had asked for a sample of a Buxom mascara. When I arrived home and was putting away my purchases, I found I had received a Marc Jacobs mascara sample instead of the Buxom one. Initially, I was upset at the mix up. Now, I’m very over it as the Marc Jacobs mascara is a new favorite. It feels non-existent on my lashes, and gives a nice full look with minimal product.
Down Jacket from H&M
Purchased during H&M’s outerware sale, this coat was a fantastic buy! I wanted a second down jacket with a little more style and glam than my current down jacket that is just solid black with no adornments. I also wanted a longer jacket with a hood, for a warmer option. I found all I wanted in this down jacket. The dark green color is rich and interesting, but still neutral; the gold hardware looks luxe; and the faux fur trimmed hood (which is removable from the hood, as is the hood from the coat) and faux fur lined collar are so soft and snuggly. Overall it’s my perfect winter jacket.
When I was a kid, my parents used to keep a bowl of unshelled walnuts on the bar. Cracking the nuts open, and carefully extracting the goods, was so fun for me! So when I saw a bag of walnuts at the grocery store this past month, I immediately tossed it in the cart. I set out a bowl of unshelled walnuts in my home, and proceeded to eat
nearly the entire bag on my own. It is still as fun to crack open those shells as it was when I was a little babe.
As you may know, this babe likes her tea! My boo and I made the decision to chuck our old kettle for an electric one and what a decision that was! It brings your water to a boil quickly and without that eardrum-crushing whistle. The model we selected has a blue light that turns on when you start the kettle and shuts off, as does the machine, when the water comes to a full boil. This beauty has made making tea more accessible for my boo and I, and I recommend anyone who boils water on the reg look into an electric kettle.
Grace’s Guide by Grace Helbig
Grace’s Guide: The Art of Pretending to Be a Grown-Up is a comedic handbook for Millennials needing a bit of guidance in the real and digital world. I’ve been a fan of Grace Helbig’s YouTube channel for a while now, so when this book launched, I was all over it! Grace’s Guide is as funny and charming as I had hoped it would be. Even if you’ve never seen Grace’s videos, (which you should really check out) you can still enjoy this book.
My trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota
For Thanksgiving this year, my boo and I flew out to Minneapolis, MN to welcome his newborn niece, and to visit with the rest of the family as well. They are all spread out between 3 states, so whenever we can all converge for a visit it’s really lovely. It was also great, for me, to check out a new city and state. Even at the same temperature, Minneapolis felt much colder than Anchorage, so I was happy to get back home to the more mild cold. It’s always so good to spend time with my boo’s family, even if it’s freezing out.
What are some of your November favorites?
Essential Hypershine Gloss in Blossom #9012 from e.l.f.
I’ve been going low-makeup this month, so this sheer, nude gloss has been my go-to.
Sephora Collection Super Regenerating Oil-Serum from Sephora
Because I spent most of August blowing my nose, I’ve needed some extra moisture around my schnoz. This serum has really proven itself. Normally, even with extra daily moisturizer, my nose ends up dry & peeling after this much tissue use, but after adding this serum to the mix, I’ve seen no excess dryness.
NEW Watercolor Monogram Notecard Set from ASPDesignSolutions on Etsy
This notecard set, alone with this Watercolor Hello one, was the August design addition to my Etsy shop, ASPDesignSolutions. The set includes four 5.5″ x 4.25″ single sheet notecards (printed on Crisp White, 80lb Linen Card Stock) and four Crisp White A2 envelopes.
Sharpie Clear View Highlighters (Assorted Pack Of 3) from Office Depot
After I first saw the commercial for these new babes, I knew I had to have this highlighter. This highlighter is a game-changer. I no longer over-highlight my sentences thanks to the see-through tip. I’m obsessed!
Cable-knit Sweater from H&M
Because I’ve been a sicko, I’ve gravitated to easy outfits. This sweater is comfy but still stylish in mustard yellow.
Denim Overalls from Target
Like I said, easy outfits were my go-to in August. And few outfits are easier to throw together than a pair of overalls & a top. I think it’s safe to say overalls are the new maxi dress.
Quaker Protein Instant Oatmeal in Banana Nut
This instant oatmeal is obviously an easy breakfast to whip up. It has 10 grams of protein and keeps me full for a fair amount of time. It’s also delish topped with fresh blueberries.
Earl Grey Black Tea from Private Selection
Earl Grey with milk & sugar has been my comforting go-to this past month. I liked having something warm first thing in the morning to sooth my sore throat. A cup of tea sounds nice right now…
Isaac Mizrahi Kleenex Expressions from Kleenex
Again, because I was a sicko, the item I used most in August was tissues. Sexy, I know. If I put something in my home (even tissues), it has to be something I want to look at, and these boxes designed by Isaac Mizrahi are so chic!
Room Essentials Clear Globe Lights from Target
With so many sunlight hours, there’s little need for turning on the lights in my apartment. When I do need a little bright boost, I plug in these globe lights. They give off a good amount of light, and look very festive.
Literature- If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Because of the book-turned-movie’s release, I wanted to read If I Stay before I saw the film. It was an emotional and well written book, and I can’t wait to see the movie for comparison.
TV/Film- Season 3 of Hell on Wheels on Netflix
This was a show my boo wanted to start on Netflix last year, and I was skeptical because I don’t normally go for anything in the action & adventure genre. My boo made a good call; it’s so good! Main character, Cullen Bohannon, is such a babe and the entire cast is spectacular. The 4th season is currently showing on AMC, and I’m excited to see how it goes.
What are some of your August favorites?
Now that July has come to a close I thought I’d share with you babes some things I have been super into this past month.
TruMagic The Sunkisser Bronzer 110 from Cover Girl
I’ve really liked using this bronzer because it’s a cream & blends really naturally into the skin.
Super Lustrous Lipstick in the shade Siren 677 from Revlon
This shade of orange is bold but wearable. I like to pair it with loads of mascara for a low-makeup look with high impact.
The Righteous Butter Body Butter from Soap & Glory
This body butter is my everything! It smells so floral & hydrates my skin to perfection.
Sleek & Shine Flat Iron Perfecter Straightening Mist from Garnier Fructis
I use this product mostly for its heat-protection, but it also tames frizzies like a boss & smells divine.
Babe Daily (obvi!)
As my newest project this July, Babe Daily is, in fact, my babe. I’m obsessed with her & can’t wait to see how she grows in the months to come.
Greenroom Metallic Pattern Notebook from Target
I had bought a different notebook from Target that I wanted to feature here, but could not find a link 😡 These notebooks have a similar metallic pattern that’s just as chic as the one on my Mara Mi notebook.
The font Windsor Hand by Skyhaven Fonts
My favorite fonts are usually a wispy, handwritten style, & Windsor Hand fits that bill. I just love the way the leg of the ‘R’ & the tail of the ‘Q’ dip down with a little sass.
These downloads are great for both your computer & cell phone. I like to miss match mine, but if you’re the kind of babe that likes to coordinate, then Designlovefest has you covered.
10-Pack of Rings from H&M
I have massive sausage fingers (eww), so finding rings that fit is a chore. This set worked great for me because I wear them as midi rings instead of trying to mash my little sausages down into them. Practical & trendy!
Statement Rhinestone Necklace from H&M
This necklace is low effort, high-impact, & I can’t stop wearing it. It’s a perfect instant-glam solution when worn over a t-shirt & jeans.
Faux Leather Weekend Set from Forever 21
This bag duo was such a score! I initially just saw the tote & had a mini heart attack over the color. When I saw there was a minimal cross-body (that I had been so desperately searching for) inside, I died. Both bags are a good size for all the summer goodies I carry. I highly recommend picking up this set if you like a minimal look.
Crop Tops like this Baby Tee from Wet Seal (I have one in each color)
Maybe it’s just that I love anything high-waisted, but I can’t get enough of crop tops this summer. I just bought a pair of overalls & I can’t wait to wear them with a fitted white crop top #90sbabe
Hi, I’m 5 years old! I like to have a bowl of charms as a dessert. It’s too deliciously terrible to be my breakfast.
Did I mention I’m 5? Another treat. I’m too impatient when it comes to Pop Tarts, so I don’t toast mine; I like them raw.
Sweetened Black Iced Tea from Starbucks
Black Iced Tea is always my beverage-of-choice, but this month has been especially heavy on the Starbucks runs, so I’ve ingested more than usual. It’s just so damn refreshing in the heat (always). Now I’m going to have to make a stop today…
Poached Eggs (perfected here)
If you haven’t already noticed, I very much enjoy breakfast foods. Eggs are my favorite ingredient (the can do so much!) & lately I’ve been having them poached. They’re so soft & yummy and the best over toast. Is your mouth watering too?
The Maison Metallo Candle in Amaranth & Jasmine from Voluspa
I know candles aren’t too much of a summer item, but I like to have a fresh scent in the house & candles are a great way to get one. This candle smells very strongly of intense floral. Once lit for 30 minutes, my whole apartment has a lovely stink going.
The Home Collection Wooden Wick Candle in White Peach from Febreze
This candle is more about sound than scent for me. The wooden wick crackles like a bonfire & warms my soul. The peach scent is fresh & fruity and screams summer.
I didn’t purchase this print in July, but I have been enjoying its July-esqu motif greatly. My heat skipped a beat when I saw it on Etsy, because this swimmer is so me. I’m all about a high bun, red lip, & no boobie constriction!
My Balcony Flowers
I’ve been spending a lot of time tending to my little balcony garden & it’s become of point of pride. I potted all my plants into tin cans I ½ sprayed with chalkboard paint, and they line the ledge on my balcony. Every morning I water them & the rest of the day I admire them through the window.
Music- Lana Del Rey’s new album Ultraviolence
Lana Del Rey is probably my favorite artist. Her longing, melancholy vocals waft deep into my heart and pump through my body making me feel like I’m a tortured soul. This new album did not disappoint on the tortured soul front. 5 stars!
Literature- Man Repeller: Seeking Love. Finding Overalls by Leandra Medine
Another brunette babe, Leandra Medine (of The Man Repeller) wrote a wonderfully fun collection of essays which I read with my ears via audio book. The book has a great dose of personality, and I found it all so charming & relatable. I recommend it immensely.
TV/Film- Seasons 1-3 of Bob’s Burgers on Netflix
Because my boo was away most of July, I had a lot of personal Netflix time. I’d seen the first season of Bob’s Burgers when it first hit Netflix, & figured I give it a re-watch. The kids are ridiculous characters & it’s just so funny.
Misc.- Canon Sure Shot Owl Point & Shoot Film Camera
This camera is a relic from my boo’s sister’s college days. It’s a bit of a random favorite for me, but I’ve really been enjoying snapping images here & there. Hopefully they come out alright (I’ve had bad luck in the past with film). If so, I’ll post some on here for you babes to creep.
So there you have it! If you have any questions about the products I’ve used, where to purchase something, etc. don’t hesitate to leave me a comment!
