Who’s Hungry | Alaskan Eats

On this day in 1867, Secretary of State William H. Seward spent 7.2 million dollars on the purchase of Alaska from Russia. At the time, some Americans criticized this purchase, calling it “Seward’s folly”. It wasn’t until major discoveries of gold were made in the 1890’s that Alaska was seen as a valuable acquisition. Today, we know it was the right move.

To celebrate this great land that I now call home, today’s Who’s Hungry is all Alaskan!

  1. Sourdough Bread from Grit
  2. Reindeer Hot Dogs from Travel and Leisure
  3. King Crab Eggs Benedict from Confections of a Foodie Bride
  4. Slammin’ Alaska Salmon Burgers with Garlic Dill Aioli from Allergy Free Alaska
  5. Tequila-Lime Halibut Tacos with Red Cabbage Slaw from Use Real Butter
  6. Baked Alaska from Food Network

Happy Veterans Day

To celebrate this honorable day, I thought I’d share a photo of my favorite member of our armed forces, my boo! This photo was taken in 2010 in San Antonio, Texas when he first joined the United States Air Force.SAT 2010

His service has taken him across the country and overseas. It has also given me the opportunity to visit places I never thought I’d go, as well as ultimately taken me to the city (Anchorage, AK) I’ve grown to adore and now call home.

Every day I’m proud of my boo, but today is a day for an excess of my pride, respect, and appreciation.

To all members of the U.S. Armed Forces- past, present, & future -thank you for your service.

Who are you honoring today?
